Immigration, Iraq, and Fred Thompson

By David Mertens

Can Fred Thompson fix Iraq and Immigration?

The Democrat-controlled congress and complicit Republicans are doing all they can to end the war, and bestow amnesty to illegals.

Bush seems in the mood to compromise on both fronts, leaving conservatives looking for leaders to stop the liberal-minded bleed strategies.

No such leader appears to be currently in office, and conservatives are staring into a massive 20 month span from now until the next Presidential inauguration during which the far-left-puppet congress seeks to wreak havoc on the fabric of traditional American culture.

Fred Thompson has warned us (www.fredthompsonnews.com) to look to our history for clues about the dangers we face as a nation today.

A major immigration law is almost assured to pass both houses of Congress in the next year and be signed into law by a President looking for his legacy. The Republican and Democrat common people’s revolt has already begun with howls of impeachment from all sides, freepers and huffpos alike, stinging from the slap to the face from a President willing to keep their sons and daughters at war without providing the massive political and material support needed to end it. And, while their sons sit in the crosshairs of the jihad, unfunded, George Bush appears eager to allow the Mexican culture to swallow the American, by affording stupidly-easy and border-rush provoking amnesty to the undeserving and law breaking millions AND their extended families now packing their bags to travel to the US. (And this “must pay back taxes bit”-most of the illegals filing back taxes will actually get a large Earned Income Tax check. This is the redistribution of wealth payment to low income families that replaced welfare. Bilingual accountants will be lined up to file for them).

There are even now common calls for armed revolt against this government, a political elitist class that not only has a deaf ear for its people, however, having the ability to read poles showing 75% of Americans are against amnesty of any sort, surely must be holding their hands very tightly over both ears and shutting their eyes, and humming loudly to boot (vote carefully with your dollars’ voice).

We are, as a country, at least evenly divided on the war, and both Democrats and Republicans are looking for a solution that will get our men and women out of the Iraqi mine field, and into a sensible backup position to the Iraq security forces, and start trading out casualty-countable Army soldiers for CIA secretive forces one-for-one (you didn’t think we could actually leave the Middle East with all those radicalized jihadis running around, did you? That would be suicide)!

The Iraqis, though, appear to have a centuries old score to settle, and political powerbases to build and protect, and Iran, Syria, and the Sunnis and their agents are not ready to lay down their arms just yet. To be fair, I think the surge is our best, smallest bet available to the US at this time to track down and kill the insurgents.

But you cannot expect me to believe that we have nearly enough soldiers or equipment in Iraq to enforce the border security against Iranian or Syrian supplied death squads and suicide bombers any more than we do on our border with Mexico with a similar sized force. So defeat the insurgents and al Qaeda in Iraq, and the next squad comes over the border to replace them.

The Islamic world has a very high birth rate. Suicide recruits are brainwashed and trained from birth, innumerable, and expendable. Can you really win a war against an enemy that counts its own deaths as victories in the jihad, as long as infidels and misinterpreters of the koran are taken too?

Regardless, I believe that as Iran, Syria, and Saudi Arabia come to hear from our congress that we are leaving; they will step up and enforce their own brand of tried and true Islamic security measures in the areas of Iraq they will further control on our departure.

Iraq’s neighbors, and al Qaeda, the propaganda press, and the US Democrats are enacting the means for a 20 month Coalition withdrawal plan, with the same stated ends; weakened American influence and activity in the Middle East.

This brings me back to my question. On the matters of Iraq and immigration, will there be anything left for the next President to do, other than finding a way to pay for the war debt and our new citizens’ housing, care and education? And if there is not, then why even ask the questions at the debates and interviews about “What would you do in Iraq” and “What is your stance on immigration”? The answers will be mute. The cows will have left the barn.

If Iraq and the Amnesty Plan will be settled law by 2008, our focus of course should then be to what issue? With an exploding Hispanic population, and the boy and girls returning home from Iraq to make families, my guess would be:

Mr. Thompson, “How will you prepare America for the 2008 baby boom, while at the same time care for the survivors from the last, while also continuing to dismantle and snuff the radical Islamic movement, in all of its colors and stripes, around the world, and if you can believe it, pay for it all with less than zero taxes coming from workers doing low wage jobs Americans won’t do?”
