The Blogs are abuzz with Fred Thompson praise and speculation.
First Fred Thompson guest comments on Paul Harvey's popular ABC Radio spot. The subjects Fred chooses and the approach he takes hit a chord for conservatives, especially those dissatisfied with the socially liberal or suspect front runners in the GOP primary race.
Then, Fred Thompson blogs at National Review Online, Townhall, Redstate, Pajamas Media, and The Fred Thompson Report at ABC Radio. Taking a decidedly rightly-bent stance, the former US Senator gives us a peek into his brain on Islamic oppression of women, terrorism in the days of Thomas Jefferson, second amendment gun rights, and the current opposition-crushing trend gripping Putin's Russia. The interest in Fred Thompson, by both Republican and Democrat, is aroused.
Political poles add Fred Thompson to the crowded Republican roll and his numbers are still climbing.
And finally, yesterday Fred Thompson pwn3d docushockmentary filmmaker Michael Moore in a video rebuttal to a critical letter Moore wrote Thomson, after the potential presidential candidate blogged about Moore's taking 9/11 first responders to Cuba for medical care.
The speed of the response, a matter of hours, the method of delivery, (revolutionary) via web posted video, the timing, just prior to the 2nd GOP primary debate, and the tone and delivery of the message could not have been more spot on.
Conservatives were elated. So elevated, in fact, that Fred Thompson beat the 10 GOP candidates in a post-debate, "who won?" pole posted at LittleGreenFootballs and elsewhere. The question now is; when is Fred Thompson entering the race?
There are new poles popping up asking this question, at www.fredthompsonnews,com and elsewhere in the blog world. Some have stated that the smart time to enter will be at the end of the 2nd quarter "money primary", or late June. Others have suggested the same time period (myself included) to correspond and correlate to Independence Day patriotic activities.
Almost everyone seems to agree that the time to declare will need to be soon, to take advantage of Thompson's recent rise in popularity, before all the important endorsements are committed, and before all the available money has gone to other candidates.
Fred Thompson, are you listening?
